UK Based Family Business Wins £4.2m deal with UAE for Hangover Cure Drink - Creative Word

A recent article on the Gloucestershire Live website highlighted the promising opportunities for businesses hoping to trade with Arab nations such as the UAE, after a Cheltenham based father and son team, who invented ‘hangover cure’ drink, won a £4.29m deal with the UAE.

Steve and William Wilkinson secured the massive deal with an importer in the United Arab Emirates amid nervousness around Brexit and international trade deals. They believe that now is a perfect time for entrepreneurs to look further afield for investors and commerce, and are encouraging other businesses to “go for it”.

William, talking about the recent deal said “I will be the first to admit that Brexit played a major role in our initial reservations about exporting, but businesses need to just carry on and utilise the international opportunities because there is no time to waste.”

The drink, a hangover cure launched in 2014, has so far secured them deals with Sainsbury’s, Morrison’s, Tesco, ASDA, Holland and Barrett, WHSmith, Bargain Booze and Amazon UK, under their business title NFSG Ltd.

Within the first 12 months of this new deal with the UAE their recovery drink is expected to be stocked in more than 500 stores across the UAE which should see their annual turnover increase by up to 50%.

The Department for International Trade (DIT) helped the family team to finalise the deal by providing the company with a digital marketing bursary to help internationalise their website through use of Arabic translation and localisation. The DIT also supported them through legislation, local authority registration and due diligence checks.

Head of the DIT in the South West, Paul Shand, said “It is great to be able to support companies like NFSG Ltd with their first venture into exporting and show other South West businesses what international opportunities are out there.”

He also indicated there is a strong demand overseas for “British food and drink, presenting the perfect opportunity for UK producers to capitalise”.

The DIT have expert trade advisors who can assist businesses looking branch out into overseas markets who are trained to help businesses navigate the export process with ease.

Companies who are considering exporting should also seek advice from a professional language service provider who can help with website translation and localisation, design, packaging, and translation of legal documents required for overseas trade.
